Don't be a victim, or be re-victimized. WESDA arms women, children and the differently-abled with real, hands-on self-defense, street-smart awareness and the confidence to walk through the world unafraid.
Women's Empowerment Self Defense Academy (W.E.S.D.A.) is a comprehensive, multicultural, 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Our mission is to prevent domestic violence, rape and all other violent crimes committed against women, children and the differently-abled.
Established in 1981 and formally incorporated as a nonprofit in 2009, WESDA doesn't teach high-level martial arts — we train simple, real techniques, both psychological and physical, so no one has to feel powerless again. We support all those who are survivors.
Taught by World-Renowned Grand Master Linda Ramzy Ranson — 10th Degree Black Belt in Jujitsu & Karate. A real-life, realistic, down-and-dirty women's self-defense & rape prevention seminar.
Membership is free and open to all. Members get first access to seminars, workshop discounts, volunteer opportunities and updates on WESDA's mission across all five boroughs.
Moments from WESDA seminars, classes and community events.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, WESDA stands behind every survivor of violence. Your donation keeps this mission running for every woman, child and survivor who needs it.
